How providers are evaluated

We look at a consistent set of criteria so providers can be compared on a like-for-like basis. We weigh these qualitatively; we do not publish a single gamed “score” unless the underlying data is verified and shown on the page.

• Location and accessibility. Borough, neighborhood, and convenience for repeat visits.
• Pricing transparency. How clearly a provider explains pricing, packages, and consultation fees.
• Consultation process. Whether the provider assesses your skin and hair and sets realistic expectations.
• Public reputation signals. Publicly available reputation information, weighed cautiously and never fabricated.
• Relevant credentials or licensing. Provider credentials and supervision where relevant, to be verified directly.
• Inclusivity and skin-tone education. Whether a provider addresses different skin tones and device suitability.
• Safety and informed-consent information. Clarity around risks, aftercare, and informed consent.
• Website clarity and booking process. How easy it is to understand services and book.

Data sources we use

We use publicly available information (such as provider websites and public business information) and details that providers submit or confirm. Where information cannot be verified, we mark it as unverified rather than presenting it as fact. Current provider profiles are editorial summaries compiled from public sources (each business's own website and public listings) and cite their sources. Where a provider's listing matched confidently, we show its Google rating and review count as a point-in-time snapshot retrieved via DataForSEO (a third-party data provider), with the retrieved date shown; ratings change over time, so we link to Google for current reviews.

How sponsored and enhanced profiles work

Providers may pay for an enhanced profile (for example, additional details, booking links, or photos) or for a sponsored placement. These options support the cost of maintaining the guide.

What a sponsored or enhanced label means: the provider has a paid arrangement with us, which is disclosed on the relevant placement.

What it does not mean: it does not mean the provider is editorially recommended, ranked higher on merit, vetted as better, or endorsed. Paid status never changes our evaluation criteria.

Update frequency

We review and update provider profiles and guide content periodically, and we show a “last reviewed” date where relevant. Local details change, so we always encourage verifying directly with the provider.

Corrections process

If you spot an error, email our editorial team with the details and a source where possible. We aim to review correction requests promptly and update or annotate the page as needed.

Provider claim and update process

Providers can claim or update their profile to correct details, add services and booking links, or request enhanced or sponsored options. Claiming a profile does not change our editorial methodology.

No-fake-ranking policy

We do not invent ratings, review counts, fake “winner” badges, or hidden aggregate scores. The Google ratings we display are real, sourced via DataForSEO, shown with the date retrieved, and link to Google for current reviews. Our ranking is a transparent, qualitative editorial assessment: we weight each provider's Google rating by its review volume (so a high score from very few reviews does not outrank a slightly lower score from many) alongside the criteria above. It is an editorial ordering — not a clinical, quality, or outcome guarantee — and sponsored placements are labeled and never bought into the editorial order.
